AEC is an accredited certification body with operations spanning 52 countries across six continents. We conduct independent third-party audits against 35+ international standards, issuing certificates that are recognized worldwide and backed by formal accreditation from bodies including RvA.
Beyond certification, AEC also provides professional training programmes — from foundation awareness through to CQI/IRCA certified lead auditor courses — and operates a separate advisory services division for organizations that need implementation support. In line with international accreditation rules, organizations receiving advisory services from AEC are not eligible for certification under our accredited programmes, ensuring complete impartiality in all certification decisions.

The Certification Process
How AEC takes organizations from application to certified status — and maintains it.
Stage 1
Application & Scope Definition
Your organization submits a certification application. AEC reviews the scope, complexity, and applicable standards to develop an audit programme tailored to your operations.
Stage 2
Document Review (Stage 1 Audit)
AEC auditors review your management system documentation to confirm it meets the requirements of the relevant standard and assess readiness for the on-site certification audit.
Stage 3
Certification Audit (Stage 2 Audit)
A thorough on-site audit evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of your management system. Auditors gather objective evidence through interviews, observation, and records review.
Stage 4
Certification Decision
An independent certification decision is made based on audit findings. If the system conforms, AEC issues an accredited certificate valid for three years, subject to ongoing surveillance.
Stage 5
Surveillance & Recertification
Annual surveillance audits confirm continued conformity. At the end of the three-year cycle, a recertification audit renews the certificate for another term.
